Street Greening

Street trees and sidewalk gardens green our neighborhoods and aid stormwater retention. The GBD has partnered with Friends of the Urban Forest and neighborhood volunteers on two major street greening projects in Dogpatch and NW Potrero Hill. New street trees augments projects like Benches Park and the Tennessee St Pedestrian Way. The new tree basins and sidewalk gardens reduce the amount of pavement and help capture and absorb rainwater, reducing the pressure on the City sewers and helping to replenish underground aquifers.

  •         Added 76 new street trees

  •        Created 1563 square feet of sidewalk gardens

  •        Converted more than 3,000 sq. ft. of pavement to permeable sidewalk gardens and tree basins
