Benches Garden and Park
Benches Park was created in the 1970 by neighborhood leaders Babette Drefske and Ann Sustarich of Potrero Beautiful with the help of a Youth Conservation Corps program. Benches Garden was created in 2008 by the San Bruno Neighborhood Association. The current park steward is Joe Treinen who organizes neighborhood work parties and helps maintain the Garden. The Green Benefit District provides weekly maintenance and is providing funding for irrigation, plants and other infrastructure at the Park.
Benches Garden and Park Upgrade
Then Benches Garden members, working with the GBD and Miller Company Landscape Architects, have come up with a plan and a vision that will open the garden to neighbors, add a treelined sidewalk garden dog run and upgrade and beautify the plaza area. The GBD will be applying to the Community Challenge Grant Program for funding to initiate this project.
Upgrade objectives are to add lighting and open the plaza and garden for community gatherings.
